Sustainability 101

Sustainability and debt are both ends of an arrow.  The higher the sustainability, the lower the debt.  Do not overwhelm yourself thinking about selling your house to get a land and a cow right now.  Sustainability is as simple as just making your own marinara sauce.  There are simple ways to start living a sustainable life, a little goes a long way.

There are a bunch of things you can do by yourself, like starting an herb garden, repairing buttons on your blouses or collecting rain water.  The less you depend on outsiders, the more money you'll save.  Being 100% sustainable will not be possible over night, even I am a work in progress so please do not stress about this.

Think about all the things that you pay for, goods and services.  Write them down if necessary and decide what you can do on your own, or what you can LEARN to do.  In Puerto Rico you can contact Agricultural Extension Services, they have offices in about every town and offer courses like sewing, upholstery, baking, nails tech, landscaping and many more for as little as $5 tuition.  Contact your local city hall, community service program or such to know about these programs since they're never advertised.  You can even end up starting a small business to earn extra money.

Remember, the more you know, the less you need, in this case, the less you need to pay someone else for goods or services.
